Companion Care

Feelings of loneliness and depression are common among the elderly, who often find themselves isolated from friends and family members. Many families turn to us, looking for care partners who can keep their loved ones emotionally and physically engaged.

Companionship is More Than Just Visiting Your Loved One at Home, It’s Getting Them Out of The Home.

We help clients by:

  • Providing emotional support
  • Encouraging engagement with hobbies and other activities
  • Providing transportation to events and appointments
  • Accompanying them for errands and activities
  • Helping with, and participating in, light exercise and other physical activity.

At ApexCare, our caregivers are trained to provide companionship that will keep your loved ones active and smiling for the years to come. We believe that a critical part of caring for a client is ensuring that they thrive emotionally and socially, even in their later years.

Companion Care Services May Include:

Accomodating Physical Limitations

Every client is different. Some are still physically quite active, while many others are limited due to age or illness. We assign a Care Manager to every client to develop what we call a Social Plan of Care. We’ll work with you to learn what activities your family member prefers, while taking into account their physical capabilities and other limitations.

Our caregivers use these Social Plans to structure their interactions with clients, finding opportunities to work in preferred activities over the course of a care session. Building on these plans, caregivers can find other things that your loved one  enjoys, encouraging them to stay mentally and physically active through a growing variety of activities.

Whether it’s as simple as being with them to watch a favorite show, or taking a walk around a local park, we help your loved ones take part in the things that make them happy.

Help Your Loved One Out of The House

Loneliness can have serious effects on the mental health of loved ones. Unfortunately, as we get older, it can be difficult to visit with friends and neighbors, or even run simple errands. Sometimes, these challenges can lead someone to feel less inclined to stay in touch with old friends, or even leave the house altogether. Loneliness and depression can even lead to even neglecting important needs like eating or maintaining hygiene.

Our caregivers also transport and accompany clients to social events, medical appointments, and day-to-day errands. We can even help them arrange a social gathering, all the while providing a comfortable safety net that only an experienced caregiver can offer.
